BIO

Nathan Kirkman is an award-winning photographer with over 50 magazine covers to his credit. Born in Alaska, he's lived in Virginia, Ohio and Arkansas before settling in Chicago. After finding his first camera in a trash can of the U.S. Capitol building at the age of ten, he followed his interest in photography to the Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York. Nathan worked as an assistant to several esteemed photographers before starting out on his own. Promoting his work with architects, interior designers and magazines, Nathan quickly began getting assignments, which have taken him as far as Jordan and Italy; he frequently travels the United States for clients such as Wired, Lucky, Wallpaper*, This Old House, Interiors, Chicago Magazine, and Metropolis, among others.

Although Nathan specializes in photographing architecture and design for editorial and commercial clients, he has also taken on subjects as diverse as a day-in-the-life feature story with The Flaming Lips for NYLON and documenting space satellites and virtual reality simulators for Wired. Kirkman was selected for the Metropolis View 25th year anniversary show at the Art Director's Club in New York City, the Communication Arts 2010 Photo Annual & PDN's 2010 Photo Annual.

Nathan lives and works in Chicago.
