My hobbies include walks-on-the-beach… and typesetting? Okay, not really, but I do have a real appreciation for a job well done when it comes to beautiful craftsmanship, composition, and a clear thought process. Photographing the Ohio River for Cincinnati Magazine’s September issue was a fun but challenging assignment. It wasn’t quite as idyllic as I had initially imagined. (Rivers come in brown?) But with the help of Cincinnati’s talented art director, we were able to fine a couple of picturesque vantage points that made the river look as beautiful as I had imagined it. The issue looks great — nice work Grace!

A beautiful new book, Chicago Spaces, from the editiors of Chicago Home & Garden is now available for pre-order. I’m really flattered to have one of my photographs on the cover, and to see so many wonderful Chicago homes featured so beautifully. I’m especially fond of the pictures I took with my friend and Pottery Barn stylist Jeffrey Moss that are featured in the book along with several other projects I have shot over the last couple of years.

The best was this aerial camera system.

I still have no idea what Arduino does, but thanks to the guy in the tent that tried to explain it to me. Here’s a cool video to make your own high-speed camera trigger. Good luck with that Arduino.
