A project I photographed for designer Eric Ceputis of Evanston, IL was selected as one of ELLE DECOR’s favorite rooms of 2011. Click here to view the slideshow.
KODAK ON THE VERGE OF CHAPTER 11
The Los Angeles Times reports that Kodak is in big trouble, and maybe on the verge of filing Chapter 11.
WIRED MAGAZINE IPAD VIDEO
My friends at WIRED Magazine offered me a really great opportunity to shoot a video for the October issue’s iPad version! Read the article and see the photos that go along with the video below after the jump, Kiddie Car Racing for Adults. Nice editing work by Alexa Inkeles!
ARCHITECT MAGAZINE OCTOBER 2011
I recently photographed the Center for Design Research at the University of Kansas for the October issue of Architect Magazine. The project was designed by Studio 804, a design/build program at the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Urban Planning, headed by architect and Executive Director Dan Rockhill of Rockhill & Associates.

IAN SCHRAGER PORTRAIT FOR WALLPAPER*

My first Ian Schrager experience (The Paramount Hotel) was memorable — the room was so small my friend Duane still sends me flowers. My second Ian Schrager experience is the above double truck portrait in the October issue of Wallpaper* — be sure to pick up the new issue. And if you’re planning a trip to Chicago in the future, you’ll want to check out the brand-spanking new PUBLIC CHICAGO by Ian Schrager.
THE ART OF TYPE

My hobbies include walks-on-the-beach… and typesetting? Okay, not really, but I do have a real appreciation for a job well done when it comes to beautiful craftsmanship, composition, and a clear thought process. I noticed the wonderful, new, self-published book, Explorations in Typography by Carolina de Bartolo on Print Magazine’s Imprint blog and wanted to repost it here. Follow the link above to see the website for the book, it’s a spectacularly simply and beautiful presentation!
CINCINNATI MAGAZINE COVER

Photographing the Ohio River for Cincinnati Magazine’s September issue was a fun but challenging assignment. It wasn’t quite as idyllic as I had initially imagined. (Rivers come in brown?) But with the help of Cincinnati’s talented art director, we were able to fine a couple of picturesque vantage points that made the river look as beautiful as I had imagined it. The issue looks great — nice work Grace!
NEW BOOK: CHICAGO SPACES
A beautiful new book, Chicago Spaces, from the editiors of Chicago Home & Garden is now available for pre-order. I’m really flattered to have one of my photographs on the cover, and to see so many wonderful Chicago homes featured so beautifully. I’m especially fond of the pictures I took with my friend and Pottery Barn stylist Jeffrey Moss that are featured in the book along with several other projects I have shot over the last couple of years.
MAKER FAIRE: CAMERA NERDS!
I was lucky enough to get to attend Maker Faire in Detroit, and I came across some really cool DIY camera projects. The best was this aerial camera system.
I still have no idea what Arduino does, but thanks to the guy in the tent that tried to explain it to me. Here’s a cool video to make your own high-speed camera trigger. Good luck with that Arduino.
PHOTOGRAPHY IS A SECURITY RISK
Another photographer gets harassed for taking pictures. Sandy DeWitt was escorted off a US Airways plane for taking pictures, according to pixiq.
